TMJ TREATMENT


TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder), also known as TMD, is a very common condition that affects millions and millions of people. Many people have TMJ and don't even know it. People who have TMJ can suffer from:

  1. Headaches even migraines
  2. Excessive wear of the teeth which can result in tooth sensitivity and even severe pain. In fact, many people with TMJ completely destroy their teeth over time.
  3. If left untreated, TMJ can lead to a condition called lockjaw. A person may not be able to move their jaw and are not able to eat. This may require surgery.

CAN BE PERFORMED BEFORE PHASE I OR PHASE II TREATMENT, DURING PHASE I OR PHASE II TREATMENT, OR AFTER BOTH TREATMENTS ARE COMPLETED

Estimated TJM treatment length: 6-12 months TMJ treatment is strongly recommended for patients who are suffering from severe symptoms.

SYMPTOMS OF TMJ:

Before diagnosing our patients, Our doctors will perform a comprehensive oral evaluation. They will examine the patient's jaw joint, face, bite and teeth. They will check to see if the bones are growing properly. After this procedure, They will explain what treatment is recommended and how everything can get repaired.

However, before any treatment process, an individual's bones will usually need to be fixed first. ​This is considered the first phase.

  • Biting, difficulty chewing or discomfort
  • Clicking, popping, or grating sound when opening or closing the mouth
  • Dull, aching pain in the face
  • Earache (particularly in the morning)
  • Headaches (particularly in the morning)
  • Migraines (particularly in the morning)
  • Jaw pain or tenderness of the jaw
  • Reduced ability to open or close the mouth
